Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising

Description

Many of you may remeber Operation Flashpoint from the past. The previous OFPs were developed by Bohemia Interactive, with Codemasters publishing, who went off on their own prior to the release of their own milsim game ArmA in 2007.

OFP will be released on PC,360, and PS3. Obviously, the featureset will be downgraded for the consoles, initially only known too be the exclusion of a mission editor.

Realease delayed till September 2009. This is a good thing. More time for development.

Setting

Image

OFP is set on the island of Skira, located off the coast of Alaska. Codemasters used satelite data to fully reproduce the island. There are 220 square kilometers to take out your aggression on. There was no “balancing” done as this is an organic environment, the damages that take place to the landscape and buildings will be cumulative, they dont go away after 30 seconds.

There are no civilians or noncombatants on the island. They have all been evacuated because the Marines are there to tear shit up. you will be able to fully demolish trees, for all you wanna-be lumberjacks out there. Also heavy vehicles cause dustclouds, alomg with explosives.

Factions

So far it looks like the U.S. Marines vs the PLA of China. There have been hints at other units like the S.E.A.L.S. and the Spetznas, but we have yet to see it confirmed.
